The world was beyond blessed to have Dot Chere Elaine McAvoy for 92 years. Her heart of gold and love for life and others made those she came across better for having met her. Dottie went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2016 with her two daughters by her side.
Proceeding her in death are her parents Harry and Norma Hennis and brothers, Harold and Kenneth Hennis. Dottie leaves behind her two daughters, Chere Conn and Barbara (Danny) Neal; three grandchildren, David Conn, Kelly (Tyler) Neal Street and Tiffany Chere Neal; three great grandchildren, Porter, Daniel and Avery Chere Street; and nephew, Robert Hennis
Dottie was born in Chicago Heights, IL on June 25, 1924 and was currently residing in Noblesville, IN. Her lifelong positive attitude was an inspiration to all that had the privilege to know her. Her love for her family, friends and most importantly God was unconditional and unshakable. She loved the saying, “It’s not about how you get to Heaven, it’s about how many people you take with you.” We can only imagine how many people will get to Heaven because of her.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers are requested to be directed to National Kidney Foundation’s Lexington Kidney Walk under Grandma Dottie’s page. We will have a team that will be walking in her honor to raise money for NKF of KY. We welcome anyone who would like to join us as a walker or a donor on October 9th at Coldstream Park. She would be so pleased to know even though she is not here she continues to help others. For more information or to donate please click the link below.

Dottie was the youngest person I ever met. She loved fiercely and she blessed me with it. When she spoke to me it was with the voice of my “better angels” and I am better for it. Thank you, Dottie. i know there was a shout of joy from the angels when you joined them. I look forward to seeing you again. I can’t wait to see your mansion! I will love you always. – Randy
